Politics is the biggest terror' in the country, said M S Bitta, chairman of the All-India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF), at a press conference here on Saturday.

Comparing the current political situation in India to British rule, Bitta said the country is living under political slavery.' 'Politicians are corrupt beyond reform,' he said.

Bitta called for an independent security agency in every state. He blamed the central intelligence agency, research and analysis wing (RAW), state security agencies and state intelligence for the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.

NOW that the political thriller of confidence vote is over, there is a renewed focus on the daunting economic challenges facing the country and reform strategy that the government could adopt during the limited time at its disposal before the elections.

The industry has submitted its wish list to the government, urging it to speed up reforms in agriculture, labour, insurance, pension funds, civil aviation and retail trade, among others. From housewives tormented by sky-high prices and small and medium businessmen squeezed by rising input costs and demand slowdown to high net worth investors and FIIs-everyone wants quick result-oriented action.

It could be adventurous and bold: at the risk of failing, the government must pilot all those pieces of legislation that will enable the next round of industrial and financial growth, relying on judicious lobbying and self-confidence in its purpose. Even if these are not passed, they may just get it the goodwill of the people.

"As every section of the society is in favour of this deal, the Congress will again come to power with thumping majority," Congress general secretary Margaret Alva, who is also party's incharge of Haryana affairs, said addressing party workers in Panipat.

She alleged that the BJP and other opposition parties played every trick to oppose this nuclear deal during the debate on vote of Confidence in the Lok Sabha.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda termed BJP as "Bahoot Jhoothi Party" which was "always trying to come to power in the name of Ram Mandir or Ram Setu". "Now, its policies have been exposed when it joined hands with its arch rivals during voting on vote of confidence motion even when it was not averse to the signing of the nuclear deal," he said.
